About Ginny
Growing up in beautiful Sonoma County, California gave Ginny an appreciation of nature and natural foods. Her mother, a longtime healthcare professional, taught Ginny the importance of a good diet and exercise. Sadly, Ginny's father and older sister struggled with weight issues which eventually lead to health complications from type II diabetes and heart disease. Both died at young ages from those diseases. Ginny's goal in life then became to help as many people as she could to commit to a healthier lifestyle. She made the conscious choice to make her healthy lifestyle passion a career and help motivate and coach others to practice preventative healthcare and self-care.
For over ten years, Ginny has been a nutrition educator and personal fitness trainer counseling individuals and organizations on optimal healthy living. Ginny is an expert in diet behavior modification, having helped thousands make a comfortable step-by-step transition to healthy eating. She continues to update her nutrition counseling skills by attending continuing education workshops by leaders in the field of nutrition therapy such as Molly Kellogg, Carolyn Costin and Francie White. She also practices and teaches the method of "Mindful Eating". Her clients state that Ginny's approach to nutrition and fitness lifestyle changes can fit into anyone's busy schedule, as long as you commit to it.
Currently, Ginny has relocated her Chicago, IL private practice to Boca Raton, FL where she provides nutrition and lifestyle intervention home visits called “Healthy House Calls” (going to clients’ homes and assessing food and lifestyle choices and recommending healthy alternatives) in addition to her other nutrition and fitness services. She is affiliated with the Institute of Human Performance providing nutrition counseling to elite, college, and high school athletes. Most recently she has taken her culinary-nutrition experience into private and public kitchens, providing advice and formulating menus and recipes for special dietary needs.
Ginny received her Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition Science and Dietetics from the University of Illinois at Chicago and her Master’s in Nutrition Communications and Marketing from Roosevelt University in Chicago. She practiced clinical dietetics at the University of Chicago Hospital then went on to corporate dietetics and wellness, creating and developing nutrition and wellness programs for Goldman Sachs. Ginny then explored other opportunities in nutrition and fitness which lead her to work in nutrition communications and public relations for Stonyfield Farms and Natural Ovens Bakery while she further developed her own nutrition and fitness business. She was in one of the first groups to be certified in Adult Weight Management and Childhood Weight Management, both through the American Dietetic Association.
Ginny has written nutrition and fitness articles for several local and national publications, including the Chicago Tribune and On-Health magazine. She writes a weekly syndicated wellness/lifestyle column called Food Wise. She co-authored a children's healthy eating book entitled “What Color is a Pickle Pie?,” which is used in early childhood nutrition education classes. Ginny is frequently sought out for her professional insights and opinions on health and fitness trends. She considers herself a consumer advocate in the loosely regulated health and wellness industry. She has appeared on NBC Chicago’s "Taste,” “I-Village In-the-Loop,” and in South Florida local television markets and is called upon for local restaurant and food product reviews.
Ginny is ACE (American Council on Exercise) credited to teach Mindful Eating Concepts to Personal Trainers.
